The decorative arched detail on this mirror is inspired by the torana doorway and window arches found in the temples and palaces of Rajasthan. Its the perfect compliment to the delicate inlay work found in our furniture and gives this mirror the quintessential Indian look.
The inlay tradition in Rajasthan dates back some 400 years to the Mogul dynasty. Back then this tradition of furniture making was exclusively used to adorn the palaces of India with fine ivory inlaid furniture. Today this furniture making tradition has a more ethical form and our inlay craftsmen use mother of pearl (or bone from camels that die of old age.)
